Meet Our Team
JD Piatt
Owner
Background & Roots
My name is JD Piatt, and I was born and raised right here in Ohio. For over 35 years, my life has been defined by the outdoors and the art of predator calling. What started as a deep passion in the Ohio woods quickly evolved into a lifelong obsession.
Achievements & Industry Career
I have spent the last 12 years professionally dedicated to the predator hunting industry, focusing heavily on recording field-proven, realistic audio and optimizing electronic game calls. A defining milestone in my journey came in 2008, when I earned the World Champion Title at the World Predator Expo in Kansas City.
Founding BustinFur
That lifetime of hands-on field experience and audio engineering is exactly why I founded BustinFur. My mission has always been to channel everything I’ve learned on the stand into premium, high-performance gear and audio that hunters can rely on. Whether you're a seasoned caller or just getting started, everything we build here is designed to elevate your game and help you pull more fur.
Kevin Kaltenbach
Field Staff
Background & Roots
My name is Kevin Kaltenbach from Bellevue, Ohio. My wife Heather, my two sons, and I live on our family farm where I farm 260 acres of row crops.
Education & Career
While attending hocking college and Rio Grande University in southeast Ohio, my passion for deer hunting took over. I spent all my free time in the hills of the Appalachia where I learned just how detrimental coyotes could be on the native wildlife including deer and turkeys. It was then that I began to really understand the importance of predator management. After college, I worked for several wildlife agencies including USDA-APHIS and Pheasants Forever before getting a job back home as a District Conservationist with the USDA-NRCS.
Experience & Predator Management
Since returning home, a few buddies and I have gained permission to coyote hunt on well over 100,000 acres. On average, we remove 100-150 coyotes per year, but the real reward is hearing from our landowners on how well the native wildlife have responded due to our predator management efforts. Whether you’re a die-hard coyote hunter or a farmer just trying to protect your livestock, I encourage you to look up Bustin Fur Audio…You wont be disappointed with the results!
Branch Ousley
Field Staff
Background & Roots
My name is Branch Ousley. I am 44 years old, and I was born and raised right here in Ohio. My journey into the outdoors started early, and I have been targeting and hunting predators for over 30 years.
Industry Success & Competition
Over the decades, I’ve been heavily involved in the predator hunting industry, constantly pushing the envelope to maintain continued success on every stand. That competitive drive has taken me from solo sets to the big stage, giving me the privilege of putting many tournament and competition wins under my belt while hunting alongside some of the best in the business.
Ballistics & Long-Range Precision
Beyond calling, I am a massive gun and ballistics enthusiast and an active long-range competition shooter. I live for the technical side of precision firearms, and that dedication directly translates to my predator setups. I always put my gear and skills to the absolute limit—culminating in my longest recorded coyote harvest to date at an incredible 916 yards. If you want results that speak for themselves out in the elements, you’re in the right place with BustinFur.
Darin Hess
Field Staff
Background & Roots
My name is Darin Hess. I am 49 years old, and I was born and raised right here in Ohio. For years, the outdoors have been a massive part of my life. Spending countless nights on the stand has given me a deep appreciation for the persistence it takes to outsmart local predators.
Life on the Track & Barrel Racing
Outside of hunting, a huge portion of my life is dedicated to the equine world. My wife and I are heavily involved with horses, dedicating our time, energy, and passion to the sport of barrel racing. Whether we are training, traveling, or competing, horse racing keeps us on the move and deeply connected to the equestrian community.
The Stand & Team BustinFur
But when I'm not occupied with the horses and the racing season slows down, my focus shifts right back to the woods. Whenever the weather breaks and a free moment calls, you can find me out on the stand hunting alongside JD. Chasing fur with JD means putting the absolute best sounds and strategies to the test in real field conditions, ensuring that everything we back at BustinFur is proven to produce results.
William Montgomery
Field Staff
Background & Roots
My name is William Montgomery. I am 35 years old, and I grew up right here in the hills of Southern Ohio. From a young age, hunting has always been a core passion of mine—a vital way to completely disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and hit the reset button out in nature.
Predator Management & Year-Round Style
My focus shifted to predator hunting roughly 10 years ago when a good buddy and I started noticing a steep decline in the turkey populations on the local farms we hunted. Witnessing the positive progress we've made on those properties over the years, combined with the constantly evolving challenge of the sport, has kept me hooked. I live for the year-round grind, hunting from January to January. You can find me doing everything from pulling all-nighters watching wide-open crop fields to shotgunning the thickest, tightest cover these Southern Ohio woods have to offer.
The Ultimate Reward & BustinFur
When it comes to accomplishments, tournaments aren't really my thing—my greatest reward is simply being able to help out our community and give local families and landowners peace of mind. In today's predator world, you have to be ready to adapt. Hunting pressure is the number one reason guys struggle to produce out here, and cutting corners on your equipment or sound quality will hurt you faster than anything else. That is exactly why BustinFur Audio is my absolute go-to in the field. It is engineered to perform when it matters most, and it has been battle-tested on some of the most highly pressured, educated ground you will ever encounter.
Clayton Reynolds
Field Staff
Background & Roots
My name is Clayton Reynolds, and I grew up on my family's farm in the small rural town of Runge, Texas. Spending much of my childhood in the seat of a tractor, I witnessed firsthand the devastating damage that feral hogs inflict on crops and our local ecosystem. Seeing that destruction early on sparked a lifelong drive to manage these pests and master the art of the chase.
Punisher Hunting & High-Speed Action
At age 25, I turned that experience into a reality by launching my own single-handed operation, Punisher Hunting LLC, licensed in 2016. The guided hunts I run stand out for their extreme, high-energy pace and top-tier equipment. On a typical night, we pursue pigs at high speed in a custom-built Jeep. With hunters safely secured in roof-mounted seats and armed with ARs, it’s an absolute adrenaline rush that relies on trusting your skills and your gear to make every single shot count.
Outdoor Heritage & Thermal Expertise
When I'm not guiding high-speed hog hunts, I love pursuing predators, dove, quail, and white-tailed deer. I take great pride in passing the torch to my children—teaching them how to hunt, process, and eat their own wild game while instilling a sense of true self-reliance and respect for the outdoors. I’m also deeply passionate about the technical side of the sport; as part of the Night Vision Outfitters team, I am always glad to help fellow hunters navigate questions about nighttime hunting, thermal setups, or night vision gear so they can choose equipment they can depend on. If you're ready to hit the dirt with us in South Texas, you can find us operating right out of the Runge area, just 80 miles south of San Antonio.
